Mzarāī : (Persian, originally two-syllables: zar-dozi, zar: gold, dozi: embellishment). Colloquial in the Arab Gulf region, it refers to any gold brocaded fabric or gilded embellishment. The flat ribbons or straws are known as (Zari), (Khus), or (Gasab). Adding the letter (mīm) to the start of the word changes the meaning to ‘decorated with’. Also known as, (Mkhawas) or (Mgasab).
