Mshākhīṣ: (Arabic: shākhiṣ: gaze), gold adornments decorate face masks (Burgu‘) or overgarments (Athwab). Their sparkle attracts attention and causes one to gaze. Common in the Arab Gulf region as a form of ornament. It is melted down and sold in times of need.
