Gallābīyah: (Arabic: jilbāb: tunic, synonyms: Ghandurah, Qandurah, drā’ah, dishdāshah, jallābīyah, jalābah, kaftan, kandūrah, maqta’, Thawb or Tobe) a loose, short or long sleeved, shirt-like (qamīs) tunic that covers the body. Worn by both sexes. Each Arab region has a different term for what is essentially a similar garment with various small differences. Colloquially in Egypt the letter (Jim) is pronounced (ga).
