What Egyptian Dress Tells Us About Symbols

4.4 DIALOGUES ON THE ART OF ARAB FASHION: WHAT EGYPTIAN DRESS TELLS US ABOUT SYMBOLS

Event Description: This conversation with anthropologist and author, Dr Andrea Rugh, is based upon Andrea’s book “Reveal and Conceal”, which studies the complex cultural expressions of clothes and dress in Egypt. Dr Andrea analyses contemporary social meanings found in the symbols of dress and shows the way groups and individuals use the symbols like a language to reveal or conceal significant aspects of their identities.
