‘Abāt_Shal: (Arabic: ‘abāyah, ‘aba: outer cloak, Shal: lift), a term used when an outer cloak (‘abāyah) is worn draped off the head then gathered up and held at waist level revealing the lower skirt part of the inner dress. A style popular during the 1980s across the Arab gulf region.
